How a booking works on Peelpel

You choose a listing, a rate and a duration, and pay by card. The booking closes when the payment goes through, without anyone having to approve it.

There is no approval from the other side. The host neither approves nor declines, and there is no in-between state waiting for an answer from them.

The host is notified of the booking and sees it on their own bookings page. They are not required to do anything for the booking to be valid.

If the host cannot honour the booking, they can cancel it. That is their only route, and it releases the dates and tells you.

Your bookings, and the status of each one, are on your bookings page.

What is taken the moment you book

The moment the booking closes, the dates you chose are blocked on the listing's calendar. From then on nobody else can book them.

The space is kept for you the moment the card company approves your payment, and the same operation checks that nobody got there before you. There is no window in which two people hold the same space.

There is no answer to wait for. While you are entering your card details the space is not held for anyone, and whoever's payment the card company approves first gets it. The booking closes only when the payment is captured — when the money is actually taken, not when the card company first approves it. A paid booking stands for the whole period unless one side cancels it.

The dates are released when the booking is cancelled, or when the period ends.

If the host cancels the booking

The host does not approve bookings and cannot decline them, but they can cancel a booking they are unable to honour.

Cancelling releases the dates at once and they become free for others again. You receive a full refund to the card you paid with.

You are notified of the cancellation. If the host wrote a reason, it appears beside the booking on your bookings page.

After a cancellation the exact details of the place close again, because they are open only while a valid booking exists.

You can book the same listing for another time, if it is free, or open a chat with the host and ask.

What opens once the booking exists

Before you book you see the city and the area only. The map pin is not the address: it is snapped to a grid of about 300 metres and shows the surroundings, not the property.

When the payment goes through and the booking closes, the exact details open: the street, the house number, the full address, the internal location at the place and the other side's phone number.

The details open in the chat with the host, about this listing. If you have not messaged yet, open a conversation from the listing page and they will appear there.

The details open to the two sides of the booking and to nobody else. A cancelled booking closes them again.

Agreement in the chat opens nothing. It is the booking itself that opens the address, and the system does not read the text of the conversation in order to decide.

Two people cannot hold the same space

One space is rented to one person at any moment. A booking and a host's own block each occupy their dates on the calendar.

If somebody else holds dates that overlap yours, the booking stops and you are told that the dates overlap an existing booking.

The check is made in the database, not only on screen. If two people pay for the same space at the same moment, only one of them gets it and is charged; the other is not charged, and their booking does not close.

So the same dates on the same listing cannot be booked twice — not even by a double press. The same listing at another time is a perfectly legitimate booking.

As soon as a booking is cancelled, the dates are released and become available again.

Paying for a booking

You pay by credit card, inside Peelpel, when you book. Payment is processed through SUMIT, and prices include VAT.

The amount shown in the summary is the price the host published, multiplied by the period you chose. That is the amount you pay, and nothing is added to it.

The booking closes only when the payment goes through. There is no need to agree payment with the host, and you should not pay the host directly.

If anyone asks you to pay outside Peelpel, in Peelpel's name or the host's, do not pay, and report it to us.

Cancelling a booking

You can cancel a booking from your bookings page, at any point before the period has ended.

The host can cancel too. In both cases the dates are released at once and the space goes back on the market.

A booking cannot be moved to another time or another listing. Changing the dates is a cancellation and a new booking.

The reason recorded for a cancellation is shown to the other side. Write it briefly and clearly.

The full cancellation rules are in the cancellation policy on the site.
