Payments
How a rental is paid for today, what Peelpel handles and what stays between the two sides.

How you pay for a rental
You pay by card, inside Peelpel, at the end of the booking. The money goes through a licensed clearing company, not through the host.
You type the card details into the payment form on the booking screen, on the site or in the app, without being sent to another site. The details go straight from your device to the clearing company; the card number never reaches Peelpel's servers and is not stored here: we receive a one-time token and the last four digits, and nothing else.
The amount shown is the amount you pay, and it includes VAT. Nothing is added to your charge — Peelpel's commission is taken from the host's side, out of that same amount.
An invoice-receipt is issued by the clearing company for every charge, and the link to it appears on the booking. There is no need to ask the host for a document.
When exactly the card is charged
In two stages. First the card company approves a hold for the amount — reserved on the card, but not yet taken. Then, if the space is kept for you, the amount is taken, and the booking closes only when the payment is captured.
If the booking does not close — for instance if the space was taken in the meantime — nothing is charged. The hold is released by the card issuer on its own.
If someone else completed payment for the space before you, the booking does not close and you are not charged. A temporary hold for the amount may appear on your card — it is not a charge, and the card company releases it within a few days. If you leave the payment without finishing it, nothing is taken and the space stays open to everyone.
Only a payment that has gone through releases the full address and the other side's contact details. Until then the address is not disclosed.
The amount shown on the booking
The amount is fixed the moment you book, at the price the listing showed then, and it does not change afterwards. A host who raises their rate does not make bookings already placed more expensive.
The booking stores the rate, the unit chosen — hour, day, week or month — and the number of units. The amount is the rate times the number of units, in shekels.
For a renewing storage subscription the price per month is shown, and each month is charged separately. For every other rental the amount covers the whole period you chose, and you pay it when you book.
The amount charged is the amount stored on the booking, and the booking shows its own payment state — pending, paid, or refunded.
What is not arranged in messages
Payment is not something you arrange with the host. The amount, the method and the timing are all settled inside Peelpel, and there is nothing to coordinate about them in messages.
Never send card details, a password or a verification code to anyone — not to the host, and never in chat. Card details are typed only into the payment form on the booking screen, on Peelpel's site or in its app.
A message containing a phone number, an email address or a link is refused and not delivered. That applies to both sides.
Anyone asking you to pay outside Peelpel — by bank transfer, a payments app, or cash as a condition of the booking — is acting against the rules. Report them to us and do not pay.
A saved card on your account
Account settings has a payments page, and it shows the card you paid with: the last four digits and the expiry date. The card number is not shown there because it is not held here — Peelpel has no field that can hold one.
A saved card saves typing on the next booking. You can pay with a different card any time, and you can remove the saved one.
If you are shown a screen asking for card details in Peelpel's name, and it is not the payment form on the booking screen of Peelpel's site or app, it is not ours. Do not fill it in, and tell us.
A payment that was declined or left unfinished
If the card is declined, the booking does not close and nothing is charged. The screen shows the reason as the clearing company gave it, and you can try again — with the same card or another one.
If you left the payment screen halfway through, or the app closed, go back to the booking. We check with the clearing company what actually happened rather than trusting what the screen showed. If the payment went through, the booking closes by itself, and while we check there is no need to pay again — you will not be charged twice.
If you were charged and the booking did not close — rare, for instance when the charge completed only after the rental period had already ended — the money comes back to you in full. The credit is recorded here and carried out at the clearing company, so it is not instant: it will appear on the card within a few business days.
