What a listing shows publicly

A listing shows the public a city and an area. It does not show the address itself.

The street, the house number, the internal location — floor, unit number, exactly where in the car park — and the precise coordinates are not sent to any visitor's browser. Nor are they hidden in the page source. Permission to read them is revoked in the database from every visitor and every signed-in user.

The pin on the map is not the address. It is snapped to a grid of about 300 metres, so every listing in the same cell reports exactly the same point. It says which neighbourhood the place is in, not which building.

You may not write an exact address in the listing title, the description, the photos or any other free-text field. A listing that does is rejected in review, with a written reason.

What a listing shows publicly

Who can see the address, and when

The exact address is released only when a booking exists on this listing between those two people.

The sequence is fixed and short: the renter pays, the booking closes, and the address opens. There is no approval step in between — not by the host and not by Peelpel.

What opens: the street, the house number, the full address, the internal location, and the other party's phone number if they saved one in their profile. It opens to both sides, inside the conversation about that listing.

Agreement in the chat opens nothing. Writing "it's a deal" is not a booking, and the system does not read the text of the conversation in order to decide. Only a booking opens the address.

Without a booking — for somebody who only asked a question, or after a booking was cancelled — the address is available to the listing's own host and to the site's administration only.

Who can see the address, and when

What the other side learns about you

When you book, the host sees your display name, the listing, the dates and the price set for the booking. They do not get your email address.

In the conversation each side sees the other's display name and profile picture, if they were filled in. Both are optional and editable on the account page.

A phone number is an optional field in the profile. It is not shown on the listing and not shown in the conversation, and it is released to the other side only when a booking exists. If you did not fill it in, there is nothing to release.

Your card number never reaches us. It goes straight from your device to the clearing company, and we keep only the last four digits.

Contact details in the chat

While there is no booking, the conversation does not carry contact details. A message containing a phone number, an email address or an external link is refused and is not sent.

The check runs on the server, on every message, from every client. There is no way around it through the app or through the browser, and there is no difference between the site and the app.

A refused message does not reach the other side at all. Write it again without that detail and send it.

The moment a booking closes on this listing, the check stops applying to that conversation. The address and the phone number open in it at that same moment anyway.

The rule exists so that arranging things stays inside Peelpel, where there is a record of what was said if something goes wrong.

Reporting a listing or a user

If a listing looks wrong, misleading or dangerous, report it to us. The report button inside a listing is not open yet, so reports are made through the contact page.

So that we can act, write a link to the listing or the user you are reporting, exactly what the problem is in a sentence or two, and anything that helps — a screenshot, a date, what actually happened.

Every report is read by a person. The outcome is one of these: the report is rejected because no breach was found; the listing is corrected; the listing is removed with a written reason to its owner; or the account is restricted or suspended.

The reporter's identity is not given to the listing's host. A report is a claim and not proof, and we do not remove a listing or suspend an account on a single report without checking.

If there is immediate danger to a person or to property, call the police. Peelpel is not an emergency service and is no substitute for one.

The data we hold about you

On your account we hold your email address, and your display name and profile picture if you filled them in. If you signed in with Google, we received the email address and the name attached to that account — not your Google password.

The data is stored with Supabase, on AWS infrastructure in the Frankfurt region in the European Union. The photos you uploaded are stored with the same service.

We do not send marketing email, do not sell data to third parties and do not pass data to advertisers. The site uses strictly necessary cookies only — the ones that keep you signed in.

Deleting an account is not something you can do by yourself inside the product. To ask for deletion, to ask for a copy of your data or to correct something that is wrong, contact us through the contact page. Your display name and picture can be edited directly on the account page.

A listing that is removed is not deleted — it moves to the archive, and it can be brought back as a draft. The log of listing status changes is kept after that too, so we can explain afterwards why a listing was approved or rejected.
